From Bomerano to Nocelle of Positano.
time of the walk, outbound and return: 6 - 7 h
The most famous path of the Amalfi Coast is surely the "Sentiero degli Dei" (The Path of the Gods).
A return walk takes about six hours, but each minute spent there is rewarded with the Mediterranean thicket and the marvellous views you can enjoy during the whole path.
It starts from the little square of Bomerano, where some signs (you can see them facing the church, on the left of the square) indicate the beginning of the path in Via Pennino.
The lane soon turns into a path going the valley. Once gone under the bridge of a road, continue walking until the end of the stairway, where you take the detour climbing to the right and leading to the tarmac road.
Walk along it to the left for about 500 metres until the road ends and an old mule track starts. It takes past some old shepherds' shelters (straight downwards to the left), the remains of a house boldly built on a rock (a bit further to the left): it is worth a stop for a "visit".
Crossing plots and stretching along steep slopes, the path takes in about an hour to the junction of Colle La Serra. From here proceed to the right, climbing a bit along a track above the alternative path to be followed on the way back.
From here on it is easy to orient yourself: the CAI (Club Alpino Italiano) red markings guide you for the next two hours to the hamlet of Nocelle, where, at the end of the path, after a stairway taking you downwards to the left, there is a fountain in a grotto with the statue of our Virgin Lady, and further on a trattoria.
On the way back you can change route, taking a detour going beneath a sheer cliff, easily recognised on the way back. The junction is not very evident but you can orient yourself, bearing in mind that you have to keep right when getting out of the thick vegetation and the cliff must be at a no more than two-three metres'distance.
Walk round the cliff, go past an old abandoned house on your left and continue until you get to a stairway climbing to the left. Proceed straight on for about one hour and an half hour and you get to Praiano.
To get back to Bomerano climb the stairway, and once at the top of it turn left and then right at the junction (you already came across it before)
